A Lil' Country

Oh man two posts in one day, I'm on a roll! Not really, the post earlier I had actually written the night before and didn't post it till morning. Anyways, I spent the day outside with my daughter and then later decided to go shopping with her and my little brother. Unfortunately, my brother can't stand clothing shopping with me, so we just hit up some pawn shops and the local Blockbuster that is closing down. I got 26 DVDs for about $30, which are actually very reasonable prices. Buying DVDs is one of my obsessions next to buying clothing.

Just some outfit details, the shoes are from Torrid, I got them on clearance. They are wedges, faux suede and the wedge is faux wood. I think I paid less than $5 for them, and to be honest I probably would not of paid more. I have had many faux wood type of wedges but these ones sort of look like that sticker stuff that you resheet doors with. Although they do not look bad, I can't image them holding up for too long before it starts tearing or what not.

The messenger bag is pretty cool, it's sort of a neon yellowish/green, I don't know-maybe chartreuse. I got it at Target. They had massive amounts of neon. I like neon, but this is about the only way I am really willing to rock it.

a smaller greener version

Speaking of Target, the dress came from there as well. I think this dress is super pretty, green with plum colored flowers, gotta love it. What I am not loving however is the length. I generally do not wear dresses that are shorter than the top of the knee, and this one is (even thought it doesn't look that way in the pics). It is actually several inches above knee length, I didn't realize this when I bought the dress. I will probably find some capri type leggings and wear it under the dress from now on.
Here are some similar dresses to it:

One minus the print: here

This belt I got from Ross, and even though it is cute, it SUCKS!. The whole time wearing it, it kept coming undone in the front. I guess the logic is that the two sides with make it 'snap' together-well that does not work.

Purple Paradise

I have been busy the whole weekend, so I decided to take my daughter to see Madagascar 3 once I got out of school on Sunday. We are actually waiting for Brave to come out but whatever, you gotta settle sometimes. Madagascar was a cute kids movie though, except the zebra's circus song, which was stuck in my head forever.

This dress I have had for about 6 months and this is the first time wearing it, I don't know why, because I love the color scheme of it. I got it from Lane Bryant. It's funny though, I remember when it first came out and  I went to the store to look at it, it had completely sold out except in one smaller size. I had decided that I didn't want to pay $70 and order it online and kinda forgot about the dress. A couple of months later it reappeared online with only one left for $20. Even though it's a size too big I went ahead and ordered it, and  I have to say I am glad I did even though it has taken me this long to wear it.

The lace blazer is from Torrid, I got it on the sales rack for something around $35 or so. Actually I had bought all the blazers they had on sale, which I think was about 4 different ones, and this was the most expensive (all the other I got for under $15). I'll tell you, it always pays to check the sales racks.

The gold and purple rose necklace is from Forever 21 I think. Bow headband is from Fuego. Fuego is great for getting hair accessories at. They always have sales on headbands and hair flowers, normally being something like 3 for $10, and they have a HUGE selection. The black belt is from Walmart. I hate how plus size stores want to try and charge $25 plus on these type of belts when you can get them from places like Walmart and Kmart for only $8.
Just to let it be known purple (and shades of it) is my favorite color, although I just like vibrant colors in general. I have featured this lilac Guess bag before, and I LOVE it! You can get a very similar Guess bag here.  These shoes match the purse pretty much exactly (both are lilac, and feature a huge bow). I know 'they' (whoever 'they' are) say this would be too mathcy matchy, I couldn't care less however. The shoes are by Penny loves Kenny, and to be honest I have never heard of the brand before my last trip to Ross, which had massive amounts of shoes by them.  These shoes are incredibly high wedges, which I am generally a pro at walking in, but these ones are slightly more complicated, but I think it may be because they are kind of heavy.
You can find the same shoes, different color here.
These earring are so awesome, the picture still didn't even capture the detail of them. I got them at Remy, which is like a sort of boutique that it in one of the malls in my area.

Dreaming of Egypt

It has been awhile since I have been on here, but I have been so busy with school I have not had anytime. This outfit post is not really anything too special, but it would be a very typical outfit for what I was doing. The Pacific Science Center in Seattle is doing the King Tut exhibit, which is the last time it will be in North America, so of course I went, as seeing how I love Ancient Egyptian stuff.
This is my daughter, she was distracted by the giant preying mantis behind us.

I knew we would be walking a lot and probably be there most of the day, so I prefer to try and remain comfortable, hence the sparkly flip flops.  The jeggings are from Lane Bryant, I actually bought them to go with a blue blazer, but ended up wearing them with this outfit, mostly for the fact that I forgot to do laundry, oops. I am not really a jegging or even legging wearer, but these were on sale, so I figured I would give them a try.

Gotta love the mid-blink pics as happened with my daughter in this photo. I love this Blazer and have been wearing it everywhere. I got it from Torrid on their sales rack. The necklace is Charlotte Russe and earrings are from Old Navy. Clearly none of these were really meant to be outfit posts, but I think these type of pics are way more fun the traditional outfit pictures. One more just for fun:

We were both too short for these things! She had to knee on a stool, and I could barely even reach my face up even though I was standing on my toes and wearing slightly platformed flip flops.

These last two pictures were some of my favorites in the exhibit. If you are in the Seattle area before the year's end, I would definitely recommend checking out this exhibit. As an update of the last post I made, unfortunately two of the 3 shoes had to go back. The leopard print booties ran super big (or else the size was miss marked) and the coral pair were a really crappy quality and had some issues with the stitching. Even the black ones weren't of the highest quality and I guess I will see how well they hold up after a couple of wears.
