Easter Floral

I hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a great one. Today we did the traditional egg hunt for my daughter at home and afterwards we went to the park/lake to BBQ. The weather was fabulous and we definitely had an awesome day.

Dress: Lane Bryant. Shoes: American Eagle from Payless. Bag: Guess. Shrug: Target. Bracelet: Fashion Bug. Earrings: Payless.

Before we went to the lake my daughter was in her Easter dress and I was slopping around in a pair of jeans short and a sweat shirt. Of course I had to get dressed up when we were leaving; and she I dressed down since I didn't want her messing up her good dress at the park.

Spring Pink

It was pretty warm out today so I decided to keep it light and simple. Unfortunately these picture didn't come out very good because the sun was blazing and the shadows from the trees.

Tank: Faded Glory. Skirt: George. Shoes: Guess.

I just included this one because she's too damn cute in it.

Gettin' Penciled on Marvelous Monday

Marvelous Monday strikes again. Hope everyone had a FABULOUS weekend, because I know I did! Today's fashion challenge between myself and four other fantastic bloggers is pencil skirts.

Our Philosophy:  Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously! Be sure to check out everyone's outfits, their links will be at the bottom.

Shirt: Lane Bryant. Skirt: George. Sandals: Faded Glory. Earrings and Necklace: Old Navy. Cuff: Fashion Bug. Belt Target.

I decided to down play the formality of a black pencil skirt this week by pairing it with a sweatshirt type of shirt-although this is FAR  more tasteful than a regular sweatshirt with metallic thread running through and a sequined pocket. I also got it on clearance for less than $10! Since I was doing a lax look with the shirt I decided to pair it with sandals, but faux crystal encrusted ones which elevate the look a bit. And of course sticking to the theme it was topped off with gold and black jewelry. Although I love to belt outfits, this one definitely came as an afterthought, the shirt looked a little too sloppy so it just had to be brought in some and I think this belt went perfectly.

Believe it or not, this WHOLE outfit was probably under $60!

Please ignore the crappy almost all the way chipped paint job on my finger nails, I forgot to take the rest of it off-oops.

Weekend Red

Yesterday I took my daughter to the mall to see the Easter Bunny and get her pictures take. While there, they had the Daffodil Princess doing community stuff like signing autographs, doing arts and crafts with the kids, and reading stories. Afterwards we went to the most awesome sushi restaurant called Umai.

Blazer: Torrid. Shirt: Lane Bryant. Pants: Trip NYC. Shoes: Brash. Earrings and Necklace: Walmart.

Marvelous Mondays in Wonderland

Today I am back for another installment of Marvelous Mondays; this is a fashion challenge between myself and 4 other bloggers. Our philosophy: Monday is nobody's favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We're on a  mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!
Today's challenge was based upon a fictional character. After much debate, I chose Alice in Wonderland. It was basically between that, or Carrie Bradshaw-Alice obviously won. Be sure to check out everyone else's post, links will be provided at the bottom.

Dress: Lane Bryant. Blazer: Walmart. Shoes: LEI. Belt: Torrid. Necklace: Fashion Bug. Earrings: Fuego.

My take on Alice in Wonderland, clearly was not meant to be a literal replication, but rather a more fancy, adult inspiration. I was going to put a collard shirt underneath the dress, but none of them really looked quite right; so I decided to go with a collar necklace. This dress is puffy like the one in the Disney Alice in Wonderland, which is what made me go with it. And of course Alice wears mary janes in this version. The jacket however comes from the Tweedle Twins on the Tim Burton movie. I had fully intended upon wearing a black sequined bow headband, but could not find it for the life of me!

St. Patrick's Day Green

Shirt: LYS. Cardigan: Fashion Bug. Skirt: George. Shoes: Mossimo. Earrings and Belt: Walmart.

These shoes in soggy grass does not work! My heels were sinking the whole time.

It was so incredibly cold despite that it was super sunny. I was trying to get some cute St. Patty's Day type pics but my daughter was refusing to take her coat off and just focus on some pictures for a second; I can't say I blame her though because it was super nippy out!

Marvelously Studded Monday

Marvelous Mondays is back again. Today's challenge was studs or spikes. When I saw what this weeks challenge was I was a little unsure of what to do. I own absolutely no clothing that has studs or spikes on it. Then I remembered this Kathy Van Zeeland Belt Shopper bag-it has studs around the "belt" of the purse. I had also last month bought the studded belt from Target for $3 and decided to wear it with this  outfit-turned around backwards.

Dress: DKNY. Blazer: Torrid. Shoes: Unlisted. Purse: Kathy Van Zeeland. Necklace: Kmart. Belt: Target

The studded belt and reptile shoes really toughen this dress up. And the gold/yellow bag looks even better with it in person since the dress has little tiny yellowish spots throughout it. It almost seems like a pop of color, but really does subtly tie in.

So remember, when it comes to Mondays...Our philosophy is: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

Don't forget to check out the other gals outfits, they are sure to be fab.

Faux Leather and Marvelous Monday

This will be my first installment of Marvelous Mondays. This is a fashion challenge between myself and several other bloggers. Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously! Today's challenge is leather, real or faux. I chose faux.

Faux leather blazer: Torrid. Shirt: LYS. Necklace, Jeans, Belt: Fashion Bug. Boots: Lane Bryant

Although I really like this faux leather blazer I wish I would of sized down so it would of been a little more form fitting, even with it buttoned up it still has a lot of room to spare.

Be sure to check out the other ladies take on the leather challenge
