Designer Meets Low End

Some people look forward to Saturdays, I don't. I have class most of the day, it's supposed to be from 8-5, fortunately for me the professor I have this term generally lets us out no later than 2 o'clock.

Dress: Faded Glory. Lace Blazer: Torrid. Wedges: Coach. Necklace: Kmart. Earrings: Alley Cat

Although I am not a huge paisley print fan, I really liked this dress when I seen it. I think part of my attraction was the coloring is so pretty, and the fact that it was only $16, which I am always down to pay a cheaper price. Blazer wise, this is probably my favorite out of all that I own. These shoes are not by any means new, I got them almost 4 years ago. I normally am not into logos being on clothing items, but once again, I was attracted to the coloring of the shoe and they are pretty comfortable too.

Cultured in Cherry Blossom

I was recently looking through all the fairly local museums in my area and found that almost all of them have set days of the month that are free, so I decided to take advantage of that and have an outing to two of them in Tacoma. My daughter, mom, and I visited the Washington State History Museum and the Museum of glass. We had a good time, but I was a little disappointed in the Museum of Glass. The outside stuff was cool, but once entering the museum I wasn't all that impressed.

Dress: Torrid
Purse: Kathy Van Zeeland
Shoes: LEI
Bolero: Last Kiss
Necklace: Target
Earrings: Walmart

This dress is SOOOO pretty, it reminds me of a dress Torrid had last year that I regretted not getting, except that one was a peacock pattern. Pattern wise Cherry Blossom and Peacock are definitely my favs, they always have such vibrant, rich coloring that there is really nothing not to love about them. The only downside of this dress is that is has this under-layer that the bottom 6 inches are this scratchy sort of tulle that I am not real fond of, but it's not a huge detriment. I generally have been a fan of Torrid dresses, minus the price, which is why I very really order from them right when I see something that I love, I will wait for a good coupon or sale (although that's also how I missed the peacock dress).

FLUID

A friend of mine and I had lunch today while  she was on her break from work. It was blazing hot, and definitely one of those days that I did not feel like putting the effort into. I opted for a dress that I think can hold its own with few other accessories.

Dress: Lane Bryant, Purse: Kathy Van Zeeland, Flip Flops: don't know brand purchased at Kmart. Like wise I don't remember where I got the Earring and Necklace set.

Korean dumpling soup=DELICIOUS

I fell in love with this dress when I seen it online. I prefer to buy in stores rather than online, and kept returning to LB to see if they got it in. When they finally did I snatched it up, for only $20 (it cost quite a bit more, but I had an LB gift check for $40, plus a coupon). It was one of those that online reviews once again ridiculed for reasons that I don't think apply to me, the "I am self conscious so I wouldn't dare wear that" type of reviews. Those type of clothing reviews always bug me, base a review on the merit of the garment, not it's to busy of a print for a fat person. As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, well similarly fashion is based upon the ideals of the wearer.

Shades of Brown at Steppers

Last night one of my classmates invited me to a steppers show. This was my first time going to one, and all he told me was it was to watch people dance. Upon arriving, I notice that he is in a suit and all the other women in the parking lot were wearing dresses, it was a little bit more formal than what I expected. At least I got the color theme right by chance, turns out it was a Shade of Brown theme, so I was on point there! Anyways it was pretty fun. Food, drinks, music, and watching people dance, can't really go wrong.

Feeling Blah, at least the outfit is cute

Nothing like having class all day, talk about feeling like having a brain drain. Anyways, I knew today was going to be a long day so instead of slumping it like I really had the urge to do, I dressed up.

All Red Out-with a Dash of Purple

Tonight I took my daughter to see ParaNorman. We loved the movie and will definitely be buying it on DVD when it comes out.

In the theater (before the movie started).

I decided to do purple accessories with this dress. At first when I put the dress on, I had got the inclination to put a purple v-neck sweater with it, however the sweater was rather thick and the thick ruffle on the dress with it, just didn't work. So, I decided to just do it more subtle. The strapped wallet is from Walmart, as is the necklace. The necklace is custom made. It was a college graduation present from my parents. It is in my school colors, the front says the name of my school, and the back is engraved with my initials, graduation year, and the name of my graduation degree.

I really love this dress. I bought it last year, either late fall or earlier winter, but it's taken me this long to wear it. I kept 'saving' it for a special occasions, but then decided what's the point? Before I bought the dress it was $100. I really don't like paying that much and waited, then I got a really good coupon and got it for more than half of. It was one that received a lot of flack online-too shiny for fat people, blah, blah, blah. I liked and bought, and I do think it was worth it.
The shoes are LEI

And just because she's so cute.

Puyallup Fair

On Tuesday my daughter and I went to the Puyallup Fair, also known as the Western Washington Fair. It ranks in the top ten largest fairs in the US and has sooo much stuff to do. We ended up being there for close to 7 hours, and by the time I left my feet were killing me! They had this awesome rain forest exhibit this year that was set up to look like a rain forest and had live exotic animals.

My daughter on the camel ride.

Shirt: Fashion Bug
Pants: Lane Bryant-these pants were listed as jeggings, however I am not really sure why, they are as thick as most pants listed as jeans and have very limited stretch. The only thing I can figure is because they have no zipper.
Shoes: not sure of brand, bought at Ross. The white socks are less than ideal, but I needed something to help pad my feet, otherwise I probably would of been tapping out earlier than I did.

This area was great, it has three sides with waterfall sort of walls to prevent the tropical birds from escaping. My outfit was not by any means meant to be stylish, but I still think it was cute while being functional for what we were doing.

Skyline ride, overlooks the whole fair. Anyhow, if you're ever in Western Washington during September, I would highly recommend going. The fair has something for every: rides, animals, exhibits, games, concerts (with famous artists, not just local), pro-rodeo=good times for everyone!

Shining Leopard

Last night I went to a play at one of the local theaters. The play was called Sylvia, it was alright, not really my taste. I wound up bringing my daughter, fortunately she was quiet throughout most of it. She rather liked seeing a person acting like a dog.

ME: Dress: DKNY Belt: belt off a Fashion Bug dress. Shoes: Fashion Bug Earring: Payless Bracelet: Icing Purse: Guess
My daughter: Harajuku dress from Target
My daughter has a tendency to always end up blinking in night time pics. I love her dress though, seriously wish they made it in my size.

My mom took these pics, and they didn't turn out very well. The mural that was painted on the side wall of the theater was pretty awesome though. This was during intermission when we ran over to the 7-11 to get my daughter something to snack on. She turned four about a week ago. So Just thought I would include my daughter's pictures that I took on her birthday. Even though she was indulging me, she was really just ready to go play.
